TRUS & biopsy for Prostate Cancer


Early detection of prostate cancer and timely treatment can help to cure the cancer forever.
If you have difficulty in passing urine, raised PSA in blood test, suspicious prostate nodule on rectal examination or MRI; a biopsy is required to confirm if there is cancer or not. It is important that the biopsy is taken from all areas in prostate that may contain cancer.
TRUS is Trans Rectal Ultrasonography in which ultrasound probe is kept in stool passage and all areas of prostate gland are seen. TRUS guides to take the biopsy from prostate gland. A needle is put through the same probe, and tissue for biopsy is precisely taken from suspicious areas in prostate.
This helps to identify even a small tumour in prostate and thus in early detection of cancer.
